Decarboxylation is essential to convert your THCA into THC, the psychoactive element in cannabis. It requires heat and almost all sources will give you long winded accounts of how to do it using your oven and therefore stinking your house out. Not good.
If you want to make cannabutter, cannabis oils or cocoa butter you should follow The Fiaili Way - making the growing and processing of cannabis easy for everyone.
I do this in my garden shed so there is no one affected by the smell but you’ll need access to electricity.
Requirements:
1. A slow cooker or crock pot
2. A funnel
3. A sieve and or cheesecloth
4. A Kilner jar
5. Whatever medium you want - butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil etc etc
Turn slow cooker on to low. Add whatever medium you want. Give it 30 minutes or so to melt and/or heat up your medium.
Drop in your buds. (Try and remove any stalks beforehand - I usually do this before the drying stage). We’ll discuss dosage later
Come back 18-24 hours later.
Drain your medium through sieve/cheesecloth or both into a glass Kilner jar (make sure the glass jar is not cold as it may shatter when you add hot liquid).
If using cannabutter, put jar in fridge. Cocoa butter, coconut oil and olive oil can be stored in a cupboard.
